We all want to make exercise a priority but some days it is tougher than others. How to stay on track?
Â
Enlist an exercise buddy. Make a plan to meet at a specific time and day with a friend, neighbor or co-worker for a work-out.
Â
Exercise regularly with your dog. Try telling Fido you don’t want to go for a run. They don’t take excuses.
Â
Just not in the mood? Go for a shorter work-out. Instead of the usual hour try just 30 minutes.
Â
Do something different. If you just can’t face treadmill today try a class or go for a longer walk.
Â
Think of a fit person you admire. That may encourage you.
Â
Think of a person you don’t want to look like. This may also encourage you.
Â
Bribe yourself. Â If I go work-out today I’ll skip cleaning house tonight and watch a TV show instead.
Â
Turn on some favorite music. It may perk you up and get you in the exercise mood.
Â
Sniff some peppermint extract. It has uplifting effects and may boost your desire to exercise.
Â
Ask a friend to help you. Do you have a good friend who is a great motivator?
Â
Weigh yourself. It can either make you feel good about your exercise results or make you realize you need to do it.
Â
Try changing times. If you exercise at night try a morning work-out. You’ll find new people at the gym or new runners out on the trail.
Â
Try exercise at lunch. It can be a great stress reliever or an energizer. Â Â A yoga class at lunch can do wonders to change a stressful day into a better day.
Â
Schedule in exercise and just do it!
